Germantown, MD – Children’s Magnet Montessori School (CMMS) Gaithersburg will introduce a new Montessori kindergarten program beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. The addition reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality Montessori education while meeting the needs of families in Gaithersburg, Germantown, Darnestown, and throughout Montgomery County.
With the new program, students will now be able to complete the full Montessori early childhood cycle for ages 3–6 at the Gaithersburg campus. In Montessori education, the kindergarten year is an especially important stage, as children deepen their academic understanding while also taking on leadership roles within the classroom.
CMMS classrooms are designed to support long-term relationships between students and teachers. Most children spend one to two years in the same classroom with the same teachers, allowing educators to truly understand each child’s learning style, strengths, and areas for growth. This continuity also helps teachers provide meaningful feedback to parents about their child’s development and ways families can support learning at home.
Adding a kindergarten program at the Gaithersburg location gives families the opportunity to continue their child’s Montessori education in a familiar environment while benefiting from the structure and independence the Montessori method encourages.
“Our new kindergarten program allows children to experience the full benefit of the Montessori early childhood curriculum,” said Ms. Parastoo Safavimehr, Director of CMMS Gaithersburg. “Students build confidence, independence, and strong academic skills that prepare them well for elementary school and beyond.”
The Montessori kindergarten curriculum includes advanced lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, geography, and cultural studies. Just as importantly, students continue developing essential life skills such as concentration, collaboration, problem-solving, and independence within a carefully prepared Montessori classroom environment.
CMMS has offered kindergarten programs at eight other Maryland locations for many years. Students who complete the Montessori kindergarten cycle consistently demonstrate strong academic readiness and often perform at least one grade level above their public school peers.
Located in Gaithersburg, Maryland, the CMMS Gaithersburg serves families across Montgomery County and nearby communities. Enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year is now open, and families are encouraged to schedule a tour to learn more about the new kindergarten program and the school’s Montessori approach.
