Montessori Certified Lead Teacher

Summary of Position:

We seek a Montessori Lead teacher who will understand and promote the school’s mission, vision, policies, and procedures both within and outside the immediate school community. The teacher is responsible for providing a Montessori classroom instructional program that supports the individual needs of the children in accordance with the school’s mission and vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

Planning, Preparation & Instruction-
The teacher creates instruction that supports the development of the cognitive, emotional, social and physical growth of the child.

Classroom Environment & Management-
The teacher is responsible for preparing an environment that meets the sensitive period/plane of development of the children he/she works with.

Recordkeeping-
The teacher uses various assessment tools/strategies such as observations, children’s work samples, continuums of development, portfolios, etc. to help make instructional decisions for individual students.

Communication-
The teacher is responsible for communication that supports an understanding of the school’s program, develops positive relationships within the school community, and protects the privacy and confidentiality of each student and family in the school community.

Professional Responsibility-
The teacher is involved in ongoing self-assessment, reflection and refinement of practice in the classroom as well as collaborative professional growth.

Qualifications-
Candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree, AMI or AMS credential, experience working with 3-6 year olds, and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Early Childhood Education Teacher/Assistant Teacher

Summary of Position:

The teacher/assistant teacher will understand and promote the school’s mission, vision, policies, and procedures both within and outside the immediate school community. The individual is responsible for supporting the lead teacher with providing an instructional program in accordance with the Montessori philosophy that supports the individual needs of the children. The Infant and Toddler Assistant Teacher must be able to lift a child of up to 35 pounds and a Preschool Assistant Teacher up to 55 pounds. Salary is commensurate with previous experience.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to company and safety policies and procedures
    • Become knowledgeable with Montessori terminology and methods
    • Assist the lead teacher with providing the children with a “prepared environment”
    • Keep the classroom clean and inviting
    • Assist with individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional and academic areas
    • Assist the children by moving around-choosing work, returning work when the child completes his task
    • Teach small group lessons
    • Encourage individual work time to promote independence as well as group work to promote socialization
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and co-workers
    • Participate in all school programs
    • Assist at lunch while helping children to learn how to help themselves
    • Allow children to be as independent as possible

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 90-hour certification and/or 45 hours Infant/Toddler certification
  • Associate’s Degree preferred

Infant & Toddler Lead Teacher/Assistant Teacher

Summary of Position:

The Infant and Toddler teacher/assistant teacher will understand and promote the school’s mission, vision, policies, and procedures both within and outside the immediate school community. The Infant and Toddler Assistant Teacher must be able to lift a child of up to 35 pounds. Salary is commensurate with previous experience.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the safety of all children in the group ranging in age from 6 weeks through 2 years.
    • Plan and implement activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of children
    • Responsible for the care, hygiene, diapering, learning, and developmental activities, and specialized programs
    • Communicate directly with parents regarding their child’s accomplishments and daily activities
    • Maintain classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness to align with state regulations and standards
    • Demonstrated skill in early childhood curriculum and implementation.
    • Actively engaged with the children while serving as a role model through appearance and actions
    • Provide a loving and nurturing environment for all children
    • Excellent organizational skills

 

Job Requirements:

    • 90 hours and Infant 45 hours of infant/toddler coursework preferred
    • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
    • 1+ years of experience working with infants and/or toddlers or 30 college credits
    • ADA compliance certificate
    • Breastfeeding certificate
    • Maryland’s Basic Health and Safety training
    • Minimum of high school diploma
