"Free the child's potential, and you will transform them into the world."
We look forward to meeting you and your child at our next Open House. At our Open House, you will feel welcome as soon as you enter our school. You will be given a tour of our classrooms and learn about our robust and empowering curriculum and programs.
If you are unable to attend one of our open houses, we would be happy to give you a private tour at a time that is convenient for you! If you tour during school hours, you will even have the opportunity to interact with our teachers and ask any questions you may have.
Opening Doors to a World of Knowledge
Montessori (pronounced MON-tuh-SORE-ee) education was founded in 1907 by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman in Italy to become a physician. Dr. Montessori based her educational methods on scientific observation of children’s learning processes. Guided by her discovery that children teach themselves, Dr. Montessori designed a “prepared environment” in which children could freely choose from a number of developmentally appropriate activities. Now, nearly a century after Maria Montessori’s first casa dei bambini (“children’s house”) in Rome, Montessori education is found all over the world, spanning ages from birth to adolescence.
At each level, Montessori programs are designed to address the developmental characteristics for children in that stage. Montessori classes are organized to encompass a two- or three-year age span, which allows younger students to learn from the older children, who in turn benefit from serving as role models. Each child learns at their own pace and is provided with individualized lessons based on their level of mastery, not on the teacher’s set plan for that day. In a mixed-age class, children can always find peers who are working at their current level.
Montessori schools teach the same basic concepts as traditional schools, and offer a rigorous academic program. Most of the subject areas are common – such as math, science, history, geography, and language – but they are presented through an integrated and interdisciplinary approach that brings separate strands of the curriculum together. This approach to curriculum shows the interrelatedness of all things. It also allows students to become thoroughly immersed in a topic and to give their curiosity full rein.
We are confident that our schools will nurture your child’s development, open doors to a world of knowledge and prepare your child for a complex and ever-changing world. Contact us today for more information.
