Montessori Teacher Education Program
The Maryland Academy of Montessori Education
Early Childhood Montessori Teacher Education Program
About Us
The Maryland Academy of Montessori Education (MDAME) was established in order to serve as a Montessori school validation organization for the state. In 2019, MDAME began the accreditation process through Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) in order to be able to establish a Montessori Teacher Education Program to provide hands-on training and professional development opportunities to educators seeking Montessori certification at the Primary level (students aged 2.5 through 6 years).
Under the supervision of experienced Montessori instructors, our program combines the educational concepts and proven best practices of Dr. Maria Montessori with a 21st-century outlook.
During the 13-month Early Childhood Teacher Education Program, adult learners will spend time observing teaching demonstrations, creating Montessori materials, participating in group discussions, and developing leadership skills in the classroom. Small cohort sizes ensure adult learners receive regular 1:1 time and assistance from their supervising teacher and are able to engage in reflective exercises and feedback with their peers. While the current program is provided in-person, we are expanding to include online courses as well – coming Fall 2024.
The mission of the Maryland Academy of Montessori Education’s (MDAME) Teacher Education Program (TEP) is to prepare individuals to be highly skilled and qualified Montessori teachers and leaders of tomorrow, in a community of inspiring educators who seek to give back to the world through their innovation and investment in children.
We are currently accepting applications for our Fall 2024 cohort – applications must be received by July 19, 2024.
