STEM Challenge Week 5

It’s time for week 5 of our STEM at Home Challenges! Visit our blog every Thursday to see our latest STEM challenge and share your creations on Facebook using #CMMSSTEMChallenge or by emailing marketing@childrensmanor.com.

Your Goal:

Use your engineering skills to create a basic paper airplane that will fly, and then modify that plane using only scissors and tape to make your plane do as many loops as possible before hitting the ground. Please complete and share your photos with marketing@childrensmanor.com by Monday, May 4, 2020.

Materials:
Process:
  1. Brainstorm: How do you make a paper airplane that will fly? Read the provided paper airplane instructions if you need help creating your paper airplane.
  2. Create & Test: Create your airplane and see if it will fly. If it doesn’t try again! If it does fly, record how far you can make it go without hitting the ground.
  3. Modify: Using the same paper airplane, modify it using scissors and tape so that it will do as many loops as possible before hitting the ground. You may also build a new plane from scratch if you would like.
  4. Results: Share a photo of you and your airplane and your results with marketing@childrensmanor.com. Tell us: 1) How far your plane initially flew, and 2) How many loops your plane did before hitting the ground.

We can’t wait to see your results!
