STEM Challenge: Egyptian Sugar Cube Pyramid

Week 7 of our Summer Program 2022 is Traveling Through Time! Let’s participate in another #CMMSSTEMChallenge. Fasten your seatbelt, and get ready for a trip through the ages to create Egyptian pyramids using sugar cubes! Share your creations on social media using #CMMSSTEMChallenge or by emailing marketing@childrensmanor.com

Materials:
        • Sugar cubes
        • Water
        • Eye dropper (or plastic straw)
        • Yellow food coloring
        • Tray or Container as a base
Instructions:
        1. Place a reusable tray onto a table, adding your sugar cubes to the tray.
        2. We recommend starting small. Place four sugar cubes into a square to serve as the bottom layer.
        3. Add one sugar cube on top of the bottom layer. Once your child feels comfortable to build bigger!
        4. Start a bigger pyramid by placing nine sugar cubes into a square to serve as the bottom layer. Add four sugar cubes onto the bottom layer to serve as the middle layer. Add one sugar cube onto the other two layers to serve as the top of the pyramid.
        5. Mix water and 10-15 drops of yellow food coloring together. Using an eye dropper (or plastic straw) color the cubes yellow to bring the Egyptian pyramid to life! (The water will eventually begin to dissolve the sugar, so prepare to make another pyramid!)

We can’t wait to see your creativity! Share your creations on social media using #CMMSSTEMChallenge or by emailing marketing@childrensmanor.com.
